What is the best minecraft armor combination?

For pvp, I'm playing 1.7.9

Seriously? Diamond suits beats everything.

Depends on the map really.

What you want in general will be:
1. Protection IV
2. Projectile Protection IV
3. Thorns III (but only on one piece of armor)

Fire Protection and Blast Protection would be nice if there's a lot of TnT around or people go nuts with the Fire Aspect enchantment.
