I was wondering what desktop and monitor would be perfect?

To run minecraft ANY total war games from sega and like zoo tycoon/ roller coaster tycoon on max settings and I would also be using it for school.

Well Minecraft is not a graphically advanced game, and neither is zoo tycoon or whatever. Both need a better gpu than cpu. For school an i3 or i5 will absolutely be fine with a solid gpu of gtx 650. You'll get atleast 150fps on Minecraft, it will be fast for school and it won't cost you more than 700$ with good parts. For the monitor size I'd recommend anywhere from 21.5 to 24 inch.
