Why doesn't mine craft work after restarting it due to a laggy server?

I was playing on a server. The server got really laggy so I decided to quit and restart mine craft. Since it is in my applications folder on my mac, I clicked it to open it but it didn't work. I kept on trying but it just wouldn't open to the launcher. I have searched up many solutions online but none of them math my problem. This is my only choice left! Please leave a suggestion because it really helps! Thanks in advance and hopefully, I an get my Minecraft to work again!
