Raspberry pi minecraft server?

Can I use my raspberry pi as a server for minecraft p.e I know minecraft p.e can connect to external server so will it work or can it only be the pc version

It would be nice, but unfortunately no. The RPi is just too slow and don't have the memory capacity.
