On minecraft i still get messages from other servers whenever i leave and join another?

For example, i was playing mineplex and than i left and went to hypixel, however i still received in game chat from mineplex AND hypixel. Does anyone know a fix for this? I couldnt find anyone else with this problem so i thought id ask, and its annoying.
