How to join a Minecraft multiplayer server?

I'm trying to play minecraft hunger games on my MAC and every time I try to join a server it says "Failed to connect: Outdated server". What do I do. I bought it, I've had it for about 2 years now and I've never played multiplayer.

Minecraft last year got a new client. I believe downloading the latest one will help.

Go to a minecraft server site, get a server, type in the ip and name it whatever you want, then play. Too bad if its outdated, find another hg server.

You probably have an outdated launcher, because they updated about a year ago. Servers have updated them, and like Antonio said you can get the newest launcher/updates right here:
