I just bought it for my brother for his birthday and i was wondering if it will be updated because it doesn't have many features like horses, hoppers, etc. And if so, does anyone have a timeline or estimate of when and which features will be added?

They add new features now and then with updates to the console versions but it will never be like the pc game or have all of its features and add-ons
only the games developer would know if and when any new updates would be released and they don't announce that before its finished and has been tested and approved by sony which is usually a day or two before any update releases
what you get on ps3 is a stripped down game that over time may get more features or have dlc available for sale, or they may abandon it for the ps4 and xbox one versions that are supposed to come later if its more profitable to do that
