I play minecraft on ps3. Just wondering when there's an update that adds new things like emerald, trading with villagers, horses and things like that, will it be automatically added into my world or will I have to create a new world? Also what if I use a seed from before the update, will it add the new stuff in?

Usually when there's an update on the console Minecrafts, you need to generate a new world before the new stuff is available.
When you create a world or generate one from a seed, the entire world is pre-built and nothing gets changed or added after that. It's different from the PC version.
