They are like a well but made of sandstone instead. They have a area of water in them which is 1 block high. The structure itself is about 3 to 4 blocks high. What is it? I saw it in the pocket edition version 0.12.3 of minecraft. I found it in desert biome. Its not a desert temple by the way.

It's really just a well full of water out in the middle of the desert made of sandstone blocks and sandstone slab. There may or may not be any temples or villages by it. That's really all there's to them. They have no game play purposes currently. So they are pretty much a fancy feature added to make the game more interesting.
