There's an awesome shaders mod for Minecraft and I want to download it, but I don't want any negative side effects.
Would there be any negative side effects if I were to add a mod to my Minecraft?

Yes, there actually may be some negative side effects. There are a few ways you can avoid them, however.
1. Make sure you fit into the mod's system requirements. For most Shaders, (there are some that run with this OS however), this means absolutely no Macs!
2. Follow every instruction carefully, and use a fresh Vanilla Minecraft.jar
3. Don't install it with other mods first.
Have fun! Try Sonic Ethers. IT is the best.

As long as you take normal internet precautions you should be find just downloading it.
Be aware that some mods do not play well with each other. Shaders probably won't have this issue.
Also mods make Minecraft a more complicated game, meaning it will take more computer resources to run it. This is *especially* true for shaders.
