Tips for starting a Youtube channel?

So i've been wanting to do this for a while, and now i've got the time. I'm looking to set up a youtube channel where I play some games, with or without friends of mine. I've got a decent computer, a headset with a good mic, a decent keyboard and mouse, fraps and a few games to record. My voice isn't too bad but i've got a weird accent because of moving between australia and england a few times, and it either makes me sound snobby, young or tired.

I'd probably record tekkit, skyrim, dayz epoch, garry's mod and normal minecraft "custom maps", and a few videos of Saints row 3, PAYDAY2, left 4 dead 2, TF2, Dishonoured (that's how it's spelt in Australia) and Chivalry. But I don't want to get ahead of myself:
What are viewers looking for?
How should I edit my videos?
What type of music should I use? (I know it'd be strange if I put Nirvana's cover of "The Man Who Sold the World" over part of a dayz video, but i'm really not into mainstream pop or dubstep).
What games would be the most popular?
How long should my videos be?
Would it be annoying if I whistled 80s music in my videos?
Is comedy generally well received?
What audience should I aim at?
Should I get some friends to do it with me, to provide variety and remove stress?
Should I do some fanmade trailers (i'm good with marketing so I could do that) for some of the games I play?
Should I do tutorials?

I know this won't get more than 2-3 answers, but if anyone's got some advice i'd really appreciate i

I used to be a youtuber, but it didn't go over well so i'm starting up again in January of 2015 and ya!
Here's what is needed:
Go on Youtube and pick a name depending on the type of channel you have ex: beauty, vlogs, games, stuff like that!
Then make sure after you set it up that is appealing and that you update and post every so often.

Well I dunno much about games but I do like watching gamers every now and then so I'll try to answer some of your questions:

Viewers are looking for something entertaining. I think also putting yourself in the video is better than just recording your voice because I feel less engaged if I'm just listening to someone. I dunno what sort of games are popular but I'd probably say horror games are watched by lots of people. I like long videos. Comedy is good! Audience would probably been teenagers and older I suppose.

Also things like collaborations would be good to get yourself known, rather than say, advertising on other people's videos, which is annoying.

Personally, I like Pewdiepie, somehow he makes watching scary games less scary and he's funny so lots of people like him.
