Ok so i downloaded forge and everything i know how to get to the minecraft folder and the mods folder so i get a conpatible mod put it in and my game crashes at the launch. I don't know if this is anything to be concerned about but my mod folders don't look like books they look like folder… So if you need it ill post the crash report too oh i have a windows 7 pc

I have had this problem multiple times.
The fact that the icons are folders not books is most likely you don't have Winrar, this is not essential. Sometimes the crash means your comp can't take the mod as it requires too much, naming the mods that didn't work would help. Check out Craftstones here:

They are the only person to give me a tutorial on installing mods that works. They use fml 1.7.2 which personally for me is the best atm as it is well developed and the new updates are not amazing unless you need stuff like twitch broadcasting. I also suggest getting a fresh minecraft and reinstalling forge. This can be done by deleting your.minecraft folder and then launching minecraft. If you wish to keep your saves then move the folder to your desktop. Once you have your fresh.minecraft delete the saves folder and replace it with your old one, make sure you remember the server IPs as they will go.
