Is there a mod for minecraft that allows you to melt down weapons back to ingots?

For example i get a nice golden sword from a zombie pigman but its only as strong as a wooden sword and doesn't last as long. I'd rather be able to melt it down into 2 ingots.

I'm not completely sure about that, but if there was it would be so cool! A lot of the time I end up making an axe instead of a sword. If not, tell Mojang they should make that for future updates.
