My minecraft is really laggy when i play to the point where it's just not enjoyable:/ it's like a slideshow just moving very slowly. All the settings are changed and graphics are fast and all that, i lowered everything, i tried playing in a small window, i have no mods or texture packs installed. And I have windows 8 and an Asus black laptop. Minecraft should run smooth on this laptop ( at least iv'e heard) Does anyone know any ways i can make it less laggy? Any suggestions would be great, thanks!
How to make minecraft run raster?
If your computer isn't powerful enough to pull it, there really is no way to improve your performance. But before assuming that, I'd try closing out of all tabs/things you have open, and making sure Minecraft is you only running application. Things like antiviruses can take up a good bit of your CPU, so try pausing/turning those off completely while seeing if you can run the game faster. Try running the game again (on lowest settings) with these changes.
If this doesn't help, it's possible either your computer can't run the game, or (if on a server) your or the server host's network is holding back the game's performance.
Try pressing 'F11' while ingame to see how well you computer's running the game.
You could Unpark your CPU in order to boost its efficiency and make everything run smoother although it is not advised.

Putting it in fullscreen helps me a lot. Press F11 while playing it and see if it works better.
Turn your render distance all the way down to 2 chunks and see if that helps. Most laptops do not have video cards powerful enough to play minecraft. Windows 8 doesn't help any - I get much better performance with XP, and even better performance with Linux.
Turn off background applications, set Minecraft priority to "high", download Optifine so you can turn off certain visual features that cause slowdown. If all else fails you may want to consider playing on a different machine. Good luck!
Oh, and I think Mike would be referring to F3, since F11 is the button for full screen mode.
