How to install mods for minecraft beta 1.7.3?

I was wondering how to install mods for minecraft beta 1.7.3 with the new launcher every time a try to install mods it just delets the mods from the jar folder

First is the mod for 1.7.3? Mods have to be compatible with the version they are being loaded in.
