A solution for the problem I'm having with the Minecraft Joypad mod?

I'm having a problem with the Joypad mod. When I open Minecraft and switch the controls to the Xbox One controller, i'm able to move the cursor around with the joysticks but only when the mouse is active on the minecraft window. As soon as i click off the window, the controller cursor stops moving. Making it impossible to play split screen. Is there a fix for this?
