Minecraft won't close whatever i do?

I have tried forcing it to quit. Using task. Simple closing it. Logging off from my account. Shutting down laptop (which won't work unless mine craft is closed) simply disconnecting. All i have is a black frozen screen. I have waited over 5 hours! What now?! I have a MacBook Pro

My answer is for OS 10.9.4…

- Restart while holding the shift key for 45 seconds.
- Log in.
- Open System Preferences > Users & Groups.
- Select the "Login Items" tab.
- Select the annoying software, and click the - sign.

These steps solve not having the annoying software launch itself. Next, you may need to reinstall it to fix the hang issue… And then go through the same steps above, if it doesn't allow you to remove a checkmark for launch at login.
