I got a used dell computer yesterday (the monitor is new) and I just recently installed minecraft. When I tried to play it, this happened. Any ideas how to fix it?

Make sure java is installed and the most updated version.

Un and reinstall minecraft, make sure java is updated, and upgrade to windows 7 or 8.1. That should fix the issue.
