So I'm trying to download a resource pack for minecraft and the steps I need to do are simple enough but when I drag the pack file into the minecraft resource file it doesn't work. Apparently I need to zip folder but when I download the pack I don't get a zip folder just a bunch of different folders, I dragged them all into the resource folder and it did nothing.

If you get a bunch of folders when you download the resource pack, either you are downloading the wrong files, or you are inadvertently unzipping them when you download them. If you don't know how to zip them back up, it won't work. Try another download site. You should download a single zipped file, and then you drag it to your resource folder.
