Make minecraft run faster?

I have a laptop and i'm trying to make it run faster.

Specs:
Windows 7
6 GB Ram
2.30 GHz
i5-2410 CPU
Dell Inspiron N4110 14r

Those specs are not the best to be playing Minecraft on. I suggest you close all other programs before starting Minecraft, and set it so that the Launcher closes after the game starts. Then, in the game settings, set the graphics to Fast and set the Render Distance to a very low number, like 3 chunks.

Merlin
