The websites are sketchy because they aren't legal.
Minecraft is a fully in production game, it is not legal to download and play it without paying for it.

I would say buy it, it doen't cost much and then you are sure not to get any virus or later bugs when updating.
if you don't wanna pay for games, you should just play those who are free for all.
