Is a dell inspiron 17r good for gaming?

Those games will fly on your 17r. You won't have any issues at all. I've got a 17se which is very similar. You've got a core i5 and you'll be able to play most of the newer games also.

Dell laptops are CONFIGURABLE, the 17r just refers to its screen size. It all depends on how you configure your machine. YOU DID NOT POST YOUR CONFIGURATION.
If you put a good processor, ample ramm and choose a good video subsystem you can use it to play games. (but that does NOT mean it is a "gaming machine")
If you bought it with "integrated video" I would NOT count on playing modern FPS or MMORPG with any good satisfaction level. If YOU choose to configure your dell without the necessary hardware, it is not the computers fault if it won't play a game.

If you load your computer with junk software, it will lower your game playing experience.

The dell inspiron 17 series is an EXCELLENT consumer class system with excellent reliability. Dell also makes XPS for gamers and alienware for gamers. While a true gaming system has different design objectives than a consumer system, you CAN still game on any system that exceeds the requirements of the game, just with various degrees of success, especially as the game gets exciting, the capability of the system is being stressed the most.

There's a VERY good reason alienware, dv8s, voodoo's and falcoln northwest are more expensive than a consumer class machine. A real gamer playing "bleeding edge" games will push his unit the the limits, where they need a gaming level machine. Most casual gamers won't.

Do not just use those system requirement websites, they just tell you minimums, not real world situations.***:D
