In Minecraft, I don't like it when the walls smooth out when connected. How do I keep the bumps on top of walls?

Not possible unless there's a mod to prevent them from connecting to each other. There used to be a bug where pushing a wall into place with a piston prevented it from connected to the other wall but this was fixed a long time ago
