I just got minecraft today and when I downloaded it it was 1.3.6 and I can't get it to work at all. Please help I have no idea. I spent A$25 and for it not to work just frustrates me. Do I update it or do something else.

It sounds like you have the old launcher, which doesn't work with the newer versions of the game. Visit minecraft.net and download the newest version of Minecraft. This should fix your problem.
