You can't tame a dog in Minecraft but you can tame wolves, you have to hold a Bone with your hands, point your mouse cursor to a wolf you wanna tame and right click on it, sometimes they get tamed in one try, but some wolves need more than one Bone to follow you, you can get bones by killing skeletons at night, or trading with villagers.
