How to stop severe minecraft lag?

So I hit a mob and nothing happens, I destroy a block and nothing happens, the game is very jumpy if it works at all when i move the mouse, the chunks won't load in. I play on PC. How do I fix this?

Fin a new internet service.

This is caused by a SLOW INTERNET CONNECTION. The ONLY way to fix it is to find a new service with a faster connection
