I'm an 18yr old, wannabe be film maker/pro YouTuber.
But I can't make films as I feel like my friends don't want to as their too busy and I don't want the public to look at me and think that I'm a weirdo.
I also want to make YouTube Gaming videos but can't ask my family to leave me alone so I can make videos because I don't want them to think I'm strange and weird… It's holding me back from doing something I want to do and it's affecting my life.
How to stop being insecure?
In my opinion, many popular youtubers that make "Gaming" videos look either weird, eccentric, or just excessively nerdy, but they all have tons of views anyways. Even the more intelligent ones seem to have cult followings not necessarily in the thousands. You should note that many of these youtubers live away from their family or with very close friends (whom they might show in their videos).
I've never personally watch kids do Let's play videos, but as long as you don't do a face-cam, you can probably get away with doing minecraft videos with buddies.
But if you're really nervous, you just gotta accept the fact that the only people who like nerds and geeks are other nerds and geeks. My family members are just a bunch of conservative noobs and explaining video game culture to them would result in hilarious misunderstandings and no real benefits.
You know what, it's OK to be weird. Just look at Weird Al. His form of art isn't for everyone, but nothing ever is. There's only one person in the world who can make your dreams and aspirations become reality, and that's YOU. Once you decide who you and and what you want then all you have to do is just be true to yourself. This is your life and you have to live it for you.
The only thing holding you back is yourself. I strongly doubt that Spielberg, Cronenberg were concerned about what others thought when they began making film stories.
It will just happen you could be 22 when yoyu do
