How to link new minecraft to desktop?

I jst updated minecraft, and i want to add a minecraft icon to my desk top and task bar, but its been so long i don't remember how. Toshiba laptop.

Click and hold on to the minecraft icon and drag it to the task bar/destop. Then let go of it and it should be there.
