I've just paid for it a few minutes ago and I'm able to go to the home page and click download but it directs me to a new pop up that only allows me to play the demo. I've tried searching on the internet for a few hours now I have come up with nothing.
How to download minecraft after I've paid for it?

WHO did you pay? I agree that you might have given some money to someone… But were they Really selling minecraft? Or where they just taking your money and running?

Go to minecraft.net, and click on "already bought the game?" then the download link should be there
