So when i'm trying to make thumbnails for youtube i choose to make the background transparent and when i take a minecraft logo that has a transparent logo it has the background still on it above is an example
How come in photoshop and i have a transparent background it stays on the photo?

Where it is white, the picture isn't transparent. You have to remove the white pixel data for it to be transparent. It doesn't automatically do it, it just saves it in a way that transparent parts are saved as transparent.

How are you saving it? If you export for web you get the option with like… Png I believe to check the transparency box.
