Fn key on mew laptop problems?

I just got a brand new gateway ne522 laptop and you have to press fn to activate the f1 to f12 keys I want to change to because of when I play minecraft I can't remap keys, i've tried fn and num lock and it doesn't work

Go into the CMOS setup when you first turn it on (either fn+F2 or Del key for Gateway - I think), there's an option for the Function Keys Mode - Toggle it to the other setting.
