Could my router be causing me lag?

I just bought a new gaming router for gaming an streaming for around 200 bucks, I got it all set up. It's supposed to be 1900 Mbps but every time I do a network test I usually get 13 or 20 Mbps… Everything seems to be running way faster than my old router (which on tests got 68 mbps) but when I host a game on minecraft with my friend he lags a little and Iv been playing a little gta an it seems to be slower? Could this be psn? Everything els works fine (like streaming movies from my Gbox an Netflix) I also have a wired connected hooked up to my play staton.

Your router can't change your download speed. Lag has little to do with download speed. Lag is the time a packet takes to go from your computer to another computer and return.

It does appear that you got three times the download speed on the old router. The difference could be setup. Since you say 1900 Mbps, you have an 802.11ac router and probably gigabit ports. Make sure that protocol is actually ON and that the testing computer also has 802.11ac. If both ends do not, then you will fall back to 802.11n or g. Those are much slower.

Try googling optimize and your routers model number.

The 1900 is for Wi-Fi only and then the individual devices will need an AC Wi-Fi adapter.
