I have this world on Minecraft I would really hate to lose and I was wondering if I could move over a world from my PC Minecraft to Minecraft on any Mac. Or is it different files used for different operating systems?

It's just a regular old file, it's all compatible.
Go to your search bar and type %appdata% and click enter.
Then click on your.minecraft file, and go to your saves.
Inside will be a folder with the name of your world, take that, put it on a memory stick, and transfer it over to your mac.
