Ugh, I never wanted to do this, but its simply the best gaming choice and I'm sure it does all the other computer stuff better and lasts longer than an already built computer. So, I want to keep this under $1,000. I need a list of all the things I need, everything except keyboard, mouse, and monitor. If you want, just tell me your exact rig, although I want my PC to be able to play just about anything on normal graphics at good frames. Games like arma and minecraft are what interest me at the moment, so I would probably want larger RAM disks (or however they come) for stuff like that, right? I have had bad experiences with PCs in the past, they often get slow after a few months or so. I hope building my own will be better in the long haul.
Building my first computer?
I know you will need an adapter unless you already have some sort of connector
The system requirements for both are quite low, just about anything you buy (including refurbished $250) will probably run them just fine.
Building requires a case, ram sticks, motherboard, cpu and harddrive. You may also need thermal paste for cpu/heatsink. Motherboard will probably come with integrated Graphics, but you'll want something else.
I have found though that unless your an expert, a self built computer will not run any better than a purchased one, due to driver configuration.
A word of advice, if a computer is getting slower, its not the hardware but 99% of the time the software is getting messy. Most people are surprised that a "format" at reinitialization of windows will make a computer like new. In fact, doing this and updating your drivers periodically can increase the speed.
If all your PC's get slow after a few months, I think you must be what's causing the issue. Minecraft and ARMA are both 5 or 6 years old, so I would assume that a modern 1,000 dollar rig would handle them fine.
