Thinking about getting the new Acer chrome book 13. It's to my knowledge chromebooks run on chrome os, so can you run word, excel, etcetera? Also, are chromebooks worth the money? I don't wanna pay 300 bucks to have a laptop only last a year or less
Anybody have a chrome book?
You can run the online versions of Word and Excel but the only reason I do so is to accommodate those that are still stuck in the MS paradigm. Google Docs is my primary package I use. The Acer Chromebook 13 is a nice machine and I'm thinking about it as well. Chromebooks are definitely worth the money if you are willing to break away from MS paradigm (including Office and Skype). The great thing is that you can test the Google versions for free since they are free. Now as far as use goes, it's my primary system. I don't have to wait for Windows 8 to load up and the antivirus to confirm everything and then the browser opens up. It is literally seven seconds from dead off to me typing my password and instantly on after that. That is after nearly nine months with this machine. I'm so glad I mad the switch but I do still have a W8 system for the kids to play Minecraft on and such but I never use it.
