What is a good lap top for Minecraft?

I 've seen minecraft played so I know about it but personally have not played it. Assuming that the SMP server isn't sending/receiving huge chunks of bandwidth like say… A streaming video file would, then about any laptop shoud suffice, even a very old one.

Long ago on my 400Mhz laptop (yes I said 400 lol), I had set it up as my web server and it worked without trouble. So you can probably find an older system used somewhere, and as long as it has a working OS, that will run your minecraft software, it should be fine. Even an old OS like, cough, windows 98 would work, unless you actually plan on using it. If you would plan on actually using it, then I'd get a more modern OS with the usual antivirus and firewall software. But if your only going to use the minecraft smp server, then not having those would be much of a problem as only that would be running, and therefore even if you were "hacked", you could just wipe everything and start again.

Or if your more tech savvy, you could close all the ports, services, ect, that you don't need, and only leave the ports open that your server would use.

Ok, so I went on a bit too much about that. I'm absolutely sure you could find a nice laptop for around $450, as I bought my laptop a few years ago on sale for $375. It's not top of the line, but its still nice. Compaq 1.6Ghz, DVD Burner, 90GB HD. I still have, and use it, till this day. Now it was on sale, but you could probably find one comparable at places like Best Buy, Circuit City, or CompUSA. Or like I said above, search for a used, but working laptop.

Mac pro, but if you are looking for a little bit cheap one, i suggest toshiba and dell
