I have re-installed java (multiple versions and yes deleted after use so don't have more than one java), reinstalled minecraft (deleting.minecraft and updating launcher). The Dev console shows continuously this:
[16:51:34 WARN]: Couldn't download https://libraries.minecraft.net/io/netty/netty-all/4.0.10.Final/netty-all-4.0.10.Final.jar for job 'Version & Libraries'
javax.net.ssl.SSLHandshakeException: java.security.cert.CertificateException: No subject alternative DNS name matching libraries.minecraft.net found.
^ It does that 23 times and need a fix As soon as possible, It was working fine till the servers where down for maintenance but I mistaken for error so I fiddled with it and see now what it has got me into, been figuring this out for about 3 hours and Is getting me really frustrated

The problem lies withing the launcher that you have. You could try to get an earlier version for a while because i'm the same. It doesn't download the files required for gameplay. So i just downloaded magic launcher and used one of the earlier versions with it (1.6.2) and voila it worked.
