How to open Port forwarding for Minecraft with Frontier router model 7550?

I've been trying to create a minecraft server for awhile now for just me and a few friends to play on. I downloaded bukkit gui and made the server and I can join it with local host. However when i click on the button to set up port forward so my friends can join it says port could not be forwarded. Something went wrong while communicating with your router. Any help on opening port forwarding so my friends can play minecraft with me would be great, thank you in advance for any help.

Try connecting your web browser to one of these:
http://192.168.0.1
http://192.168.1.1

One of those is most likely your router but you'll need an admin password to log in most likely.

There doesn't seem to be an actual Frontier 7550 so it's hard to be more specific. Is it netgear? Is Frontier your ISP? Look on the bottom of your router to see the specific model. If it is indeed a frontier 7550 router than my search attempts have been futile (they show results for different routers model 7550 but no frontier)

Sorry I couldn't be of more help, but if you can give more information so can I. For security sake do not give your public IP address out here.

You will need to know:
1. Exactly model of your router so you can log into it
2. Local IP address of the server
3. Local IP address of the router

If the server is on windows, try running the ipconfig command which will give you the information. ( start->run->cmd ) type in: ipconfig and press enter

You are looking for: IPv4 Address (local IP address of the server) and default gateway (local IP address of the router).

That local IP address of the router is the one you want to try to connect to so you can set up the port forwarding.

Unless this is some special type of router or something all should be rather easy, once you can figure out the router password. ( Hint: in 90% of the cases it is left at the default. Sad to say for a lot of routers the default is actually: password )
