Looking for a small minecraft server with about 20 people or less to join. I'm fed up of people just killing me in other survers and constantly destroying stuff.
If anyone has a small surver and is actually mining, building and trying to survive can I please join?

^That's their website. There's usually about 15-20 people on at a time. It has a strict no griefing policy, and can rollback any griefing done. It's mostly vanilla survival, but with a few cool plugins.
Check out Bosscraft http://bosscraft.enjin.com/ It's a community-based survival server where everyone plays legit and it's run by adults. It's got a decent sized player base on all hours of every day, and is whitelist only.
