My Minecraft keeps crashing on me?

I haven't played on my Minecraft account in a while and when I did it crashes after a few minutes

You probably need to update your minecraft to 1.7, 1.8, or 1.9

Put it on 1.8.9. That version is more stable than any of the 1.9 updates
