So i tried downloading mods one time and i was told i needed forge, but i think forge had turned into a virus because it broke and shut me out of my laptop. So are there any new simple ways to download mods? That for sure won't have any negative affects on my laptop? I have windows eight if thats any needed info xD but if you can help thanks i appreciate it ^~^

Use a mod loader software such as ATLauncher.
If you want 1 or 2 mods then simply download the vanilla minecraft pack they have on the software, this includes forge (it's safe) once downloaded, simply go to instances, edit mods and then add your mod and play. Make sure that the mod you've downloaded is for the same version of Minecraft you're running.
Alternatively you can use one of the custom modpacks they have on the software, they're all different, some have a few and others have a lot of mods (200+ mods) and it downloads everything for you.
