You should be able to return it, even opened. Call corporate. They'll refund your money with a quickness and if you know the name of the associate who told your son that, so much the better.

You should be able to return anything in the US… It's usually guaranteed by business law in most states… Threaten to file a formal complaint and see what happens.

You can play Minecraft on a Chromebook. It's a pain in the backside to set it up though.
